What are RTA cabinets?

RTA stands for “ready to assemble” — kitchen and bath cabinets that ship flat-packed and assemble in minutes with basic household tools, no cutting or gluing. RTA Wholesalers cabinets are semi-custom grade, built in 3-inch size increments, giving you real solid-wood kitchens at a fraction of pre-assembled and custom-shop pricing.

Because they ship flat and skip showroom floor space and labor markups, RTA cabinets deliver the same construction you’d find on far pricier lines — solid hardwood face frames, plywood boxes, and dovetailed drawers — for dramatically less. The 3-inch increment system covers virtually any kitchen layout, and true custom sizes are available when you need an exact fit.

What is the difference between inset and overlay cabinets?

Inset cabinet doors and drawer fronts sit flush inside the face frame for a precise, furniture-grade look, while overlay doors rest on top of the frame and cover most of it. Inset is the higher-end, tighter-tolerance build; overlay delivers the same solid-wood quality at a lower price point. RTA Wholesalers offers both.

Inset cabinets are built with solid-wood face frames — a 1" thick front frame with a second “stop” frame behind it — 5/8" birch plywood boxes with 3/4" shelves, and solid birch doors. Overlay cabinets use a 1/2" plywood box with solid hardwood face, drawer, and door frames. Both styles share solid-wood dovetailed drawer boxes, soft-close hidden hinges, and full-extension soft-close drawer glides.

Are RTA cabinets good quality?

Yes — RTA Wholesalers cabinets are built with solid hardwood face frames, solid birch doors, plywood boxes (never particleboard), solid-wood dovetailed drawer boxes, and soft-close hinges plus full-extension soft-close glides on every cabinet. These are the same construction specs found on cabinets that cost far more in showrooms.

Door center panels use HDF to guard against warping, and interiors carry a clear UV acrylic finish for durability. “After more than 20 years in the cabinet and home-improvement industry, I spec these to the same standards as the premium lines I sold in big-box retail — the difference is the price, not the build,” says Rich Hopkins, founder of RTA Wholesalers.

Are RTA cabinets cheaper than pre-assembled cabinets?

They are less expensive for sure. Yes — RTA cabinets cost significantly less than pre-assembled or custom-shop cabinets because they ship flat and skip showroom, warehousing, and assembly-labor markups, so you pay for the cabinet, not the overhead. You get the same solid-wood construction for a fraction of the installed-cabinet price.

Exact pricing depends only on your kitchen’s size and configuration — not the color, finish, or door style you choose. Send your measurements to rich@rtawholesalers.com or call 833-377-8663 for a free, itemized quote matched to your layout.

Can I order custom cabinet sizes and colors?

Yes — RTA Wholesalers specializes in custom inset cabinets available in custom sizes and custom colors matched to virtually any paint. Cabinets come in 3-inch stock increments; when a stock size doesn’t fit, choose the nearest larger stock size and specify, or order a true custom size built to your dimensions. True custom sizing.

Custom color and custom-size orders typically ship within an 8–10 week production window. Our production team can design most any cabinet configuration your kitchen needs, so you’re not limited to a fixed catalog — send your layout and we’ll build the plan around it.

Do you offer free kitchen design?

Yes — RTA Wholesalers offers free 3D kitchen design. Send your measurements to rich@rtawholesalers.com or call 833-377-8663, and our team turns your layout into a complete 3D design plus an itemized cart with pricing to match. Live phone consultations are available throughout.

Accurate measurements are the single most important first step to a great installation, so we walk you through exactly what to measure. There’s no cost and no obligation — you receive a designed kitchen and a clear, line-by-line price before you decide.

Is shipping free, and how are the cabinets shipped?

Free shipping is available on qualifying cabinet orders, delivered safely to your door. Cabinets ship flat-packed and carefully protected to prevent damage in transit, which is also what keeps RTA pricing well below installed-cabinet cost.

In-stock cabinets ship quickly, while custom-size and custom-color orders follow their production window. Once your order ships, you’ll be able to track it through to delivery. If anything arrives damaged, our team resolves it fast — reach us at 833-377-8663.

How long does delivery take?

In-stock cabinets ship quickly, while custom-size and custom-color orders typically ship within an 8–10 week production window. Because semi-custom and custom cabinets are built to your specifications, that lead time covers production before your order leaves for delivery.

If your project has a firm deadline, tell us up front — call 833-377-8663 — and we’ll confirm realistic timing for your specific order and flag any in-stock options that can ship sooner.

Are RTA cabinets hard to assemble?

No — RTA cabinets are designed to assemble quickly with basic household tools and step-by-step instructions, with no cutting, gluing, or special skills required. Most people put a cabinet together in well under an hour, and our team can walk you through it by phone. We also have video on our website to show you the assembly and product parts.

The flat-pack design is exactly what makes the cabinets affordable and easy to ship without damage. If you’d rather not assemble them yourself, any handyman or installer can do it quickly, and we’re always available at 833-377-8663 to answer questions during assembly.
